The Lines of Inquiry |
Line of Inquiry #1:
|
During our investigation there was an over-arching theme called the Central Idea. Our Central Idea was:
The relationship between humans and animals varies according to cultural practices and religious beliefs. Line of inquiry #2: Animal Abuse What we discovered in doing our research on how countries and people justify animal abuse is that cultures have different views about animals and how they should be treated. What they tend to say is that they have had these traditions for hundreds of years or have passed from generation to generation and do not see a different way of thinking or acting regarding the treatment of animals.

In this line, we inquire about sacred animals in different cultures, gods that are represented by animals, as well as about festivals, traditions, or practices that involve animals. Almost all cultures have sacred animals, which have a unique symbolic richness. This perception is
linked to laws that the animals, the cultures or associated religions have had and possess. For example, Muslims cannot hunt for sport, as established in their laws based on Islam. In the Egyptian civilization, many animals were worshiped, but cats occupy a special place. For the Egyptians, nature represented a group of companions, people, animals, and plants that should be respected equally. The worship of this civilization by animals is related to the idea of whether the gods acquire certain human traits, because they could not seem like an animal. Considering this idea the cat was mainly admired for being considered a home companion or an object of worship, these animals had more dominance of the Egyptians than any other creature. Although they are descendants of the big cats, the Egyptians associated to be large, strong and dominating animals like lions. Line of Inquiry #3: Animal Protection Laws The laws in some countries are related to the religious beliefs that people possess, although this is not said openly. We must also know that in many countries the laws are based on the religious practices of the majority. In this line of inquiry, which is awareness programs on animal respect, we investigate about the laws of different countries, cities, and states related to animal welfare.
The laws play an important role in the protection of animals. In Western countries the United States and England have had a great tradition in this matter. For example here in the United States there is the law of species in danger of extinction that prevents the animals included in the list from being killed, trafficked with them; In addition, protection of the land and water vital to these species is desired, as well as the creation of recovery plans for the species included in the list (WWF 2018. Another law is the Animal Welfare Law (AWA) that protects animals in zoos, and is the only federal law in the United States that regulates the treatment of animals in research, exhibition, and transportation. The UK has welfare laws which protect animals against, cause unnecessary suffering by not providing food , hit, kick, mistreat, overload work, or torture, enrage with cruelty any animal protected by law and many other laws. https://www.encyclopedia.com/science/news-wires-white-papers-and-books/cultures-and-animals
